We are all guilty of going through the day to day life with the same perspective each time we do something. Going to school and feeling as though the people around you don't matter because they don't personally affect your life, feelings or thoughts. Driving home or to your job and getting frustrated by the traffic and stupid drivers around you wasting your precious time. Going through the motions of day to day life with your mind on its default settings of irritation, aggravation, annoyance, confusion and looking past the little things or stopping to think about what really matters. But you can change that, turn your default settings to appreciation, understanding and thoughtfulness. Take a second out of your life when your irritated with your peers, parents, siblings or friends to think about why they're irritating/annoying/aggravating you and if it's really worth getting upset about. Since you already know all about the bad day you've been having and how the situation you're in right now is only making it worse, instead try to focus on the day the other person in the situation has been having and why it is they're acting the way they are. Maybe a family member of theirs just got into an almost fatal car accident and so even talking to you is an ordeal in itself. Maybe they got in a huge fight with there significant other and just want to go home and sleep the rest of the day away. There's endless possibilities as to why the people around you act the way they do, and before you react to the way they're treating you, think about why they could be acting that way and have sympathy for their bad mood, bad day, bad week, or maybe even just the horrible year they've had. You can't change their thoughts or actions, so don't try. But you can chose the way you think and act, so chose carefully the way you think about any situation you're placed in. Don't fall back on your default settings because they're easy and what you're used to, challenge yourself. If you truly try to understand a situation or person from every point of view, your understanding of that situation or person will drastically change from what it was when you were relying your default settings to tell you what to say, think or how to act. Change your perspective and it could easily change your life.

Listen up

We all have different music tastes, but in all of our lives music is a way to express ourselves and show others who we are and what is important to us. Everyone at this school likes something different, wether it be pop, rap, heavy metal, dub step, indie, classical, punk rock, reggae, country or latin. Music is a big part of many peoples lives, it's able to explain things going on in our lives that we can't always put into word. It acts an escape from the day to day struggles and let's you tune out of the real world, and tune into something worth listening to. This being said, here's a list of music I think everyone should at least listen to once. If you have any suggestions of songs I should add to another music post, let me know by commenting below.
  • Ladies & Gentlemen - City & Colour
  • American Daydream - Electric Guest

My Mission Statement

    1. Do as you will but harm none
    2. Don’t rely on others for your happiness, but let them influence your mood
    3. In whatever you chose to do or become, do your absolute best at it.
    4. Find joy in the little things every day, but don’t stress about the little things.
You will come across many people in your life, don’t let your walls down around everyone you meet. Find a few or many people that you can be your complete self around and tell everything to, these will become your life long friends. Be cautious when it comes to people you don’t know. Love yourself before you let anyone else love you. Find inspiration from your heroes, not the ones in the movies but the real life heroes, the musicians, actors, siblings, family members and friends. Let them guide you into becoming the person you want to be, let their words and actions help shape your attitude for the better. Learn from any mistakes you might have made, but don’t regret them. Stay in the moment, don’t focus on past events that may have made you who you are today, don’t worry about the future and what it may hold. Do what makes you happy, don’t do things that will lead to regret, anger or sadness. Overthinking will bring nothing but bad thoughts and stress you out, there for it isn’t worth your time. Don’t worry about what others think of you, be yourself in every situation and around every kind of person. People will accept you more if you know who you are and what you value. Music is life and love. Keep your family as close as possible, even if it isn’t your biological family. I consider many friends to be family, and with that I keep them very close. Take care of the people you love, if they start to go down a path you know will be destructive let them know how you feel. Tell them how much you love them and what a great life they can live. Don’t tell others what to do or how to act, everyone can think for themselves. Respect others opinions and keep an open mind at all times. Laugh as often as possible but don’t take life as a joke. Be honest with yourself and everyone around you. With relationships, find someone that will love you for you, not someone you know you’re not. Think for yourself when it comes to religion, believe what you want to believe. I personally know there is a higher power, I just chose not to pick a specific one to worship or make my god. Reading will broaden your mind and teach you things you never thought you could learn from a book. But keep in mind that not everything can be taught from a book, many things you will only learn from life experiences.

If you could take your class anywhere on a field trip

I would take our class or school 50 years in the future, to show much the world has changed, I don't think it would be for the better. I think the people you see here wouldn't be happy with the world they live in. It would teach us all that we are the most important generation to date & that we have the power to chose to save or destroy this world we call home. I think after going into the future, we would learn that we need to save and cherish this earth & make a difference.
